Biography
The bar got them, sometimes. Dragons who would drink too much milk and eventually become loud and ornery. Sometimes they would try to impress their friends, and sometimes they'd speak at a stage volume in the hopes that anybody and everybody would listen in, regardless of whether they wanted to or not. You were glad to not be serving that night, so you could stay near the outskirts while the bar filled up and became more lively as the Guardian told his story, the token boaster of the night. "He had to have been two times my size, a real top heavy oaf though. You know, the type you can down by kicking their legs out from under them if you're a fighter worth your weight class." He boomed, his caramel milk slopping over the rim of his glass onto his chest as he gestured. He looked down into the drink as though remembering it existed, then took a hearty swig with a crocodile grin. "Hey, aren't you the guy who rigged that Tetris match?" Someone interrupted as he did. You'd never seen the wind so quickly taken out of someone's sails. Not even when someone gently reminded the Shark Exorcist there weren't any bodies of water nearby for ghost sharks to lurk. He almost spat out the milk. "Well, er, as I was saying about the fight--" Someone who had heard the declaration looked up from their coffee and squinted at the dragon at the head of the table, then nodded his head viciously. "Oh yeah, that's him. I remember everyone was freaking out about it when it happened." "How do you even cheat at Tetris?" A dragon wondered aloud, and more expectant eyes suddenly swiveled to the dragon under the metaphorical spotlight. Even as it shown more brightly upon him, he seemed to suddenly shrink down in his chair. "Ah, yeah. That was a long time ago you see. I was still picking fights back then you know, won my fair share too--." There were several grumbling remarks, and attention once again began to fade. Even the dragons who'd been listening at first seemed to lose interest in his boasting, following in the footsteps of the others who elected to ignore him. That, more than anything, seemed to be the final straw. With a rumbling sigh, he sat up again, steeled himself, and said "I always had a knack for fiddling with machines, if you can believe it. It was before I got my start on the fightin' gig, and all..." As he told his tale, he slowly regained his audience. A dozen pairs of eyes were focused on him as he described rigging the match by fixing the probability itself, a process which went a bit too far above your head to completely follow. "Looks like he's finally getting the attention he wanted," You mutter quietly to the owner as he settles next to you, also eager to hear the story the cheater was coerced into telling. "It's the price of being remembered." He hummed. "It's only going to be a fraction of your entire truth." |
