Biography
Yes, there is a revolution. At least that's what most of us believe.
I still remember the quiet and perfumed plow fields, with the sweet and gentle singing of the birds around us. At that time, we were calm and peaceful, just chewing the delicious Longgrass Stalks and worrying about nothing else. Our farm and inns were all we needed, and all that mattered to us. There were no complications, no stress. There was no war, there was no blood. There was no pain.
But here came the young adventurers and innovators with the "courage" and excitement to explore the different lands. Different habits and different manners, to revolutionize our practices, feeding habits. Our life.
Suddenly, the farms weren't as interesting as they used to be. It wasn't welcoming enough to quell the thirst for news and discoveries. We needed more, and the worst happened: it worked. Traveling was prosperous. The novelties, enchanting and seductive. Soon enough, what were just young suicides became heroes and references, and after that everything changed.
Didn't take too long for only the tasty and different fishes and the new territories to be no longer enough. When we learned that we could do more, all the peace and balance of our culture suddenly lost its meaning and purpose in our lives, and conquering, claiming, and shedding blood began to become our new name.
Then the radical orders and ideas started to come from above, from the place I like to call the Valley of Legends, and many of us began to change all our habits to follow this new wave of bloodshed. The less curious faithfully believed that there is a great and noble purpose behind all this and accepted it with open arms. But I know, and I'm not the only one to think so, that something much darker has become the target of our superiors.
Today, I can say no more that we Longnecks are the ones all Sornieth can look to for refuge, wisdom, and a precious moment of peace. We have become just another clan of conquerors and expansionists, looking for much more than just a place in this world, but taking it all for ourselves.
And it all started with the "brave" and insatiable young scouts. Those who believed that all the meager resources spent, the precious friends lost, and the terrible damage suffered would be worth it. They would revolutionize our culture, improve our lives, transform our people.
Fools who had no idea of the serious consequences of their stupid dreams. Fools who live regretfully today, repressing their own bitterness, seeking a new meaning for life far from their own people. Fools like me...
How could I be so stupid...
