Biography
she was an heir to an underwater throne in the sea of a thousand currents . . . sixteenth in line, that is. a bloody coup and attempted assassination caused her to flee with two of her consorts, but she did not escape unscathed. a curse ruined her vocal cords and gills, trapping her on land and making her mute. despite her loss of voice, she's quite expressive. her consorts have taken vows of silence to accompany their mistress in grief, and the three now communicate via sign and sounds made with their spines, scales, claws
after everything they've gone through, all the three want now is a quiet life. unfortunately, with all the recent upheavals and uncertainty in sornieth, they've yet to find a peaceful clan to settle down in. their history has made them skittish, hesitant to trust friendly-seeming faces, and it's rare for them to stay in any one place longer than a few days at most. instead, they've taken to wandering, moving slowly but surely around the outer coasts of the continent (well away from the sea of a thousand currents and their old traitorous clan) with a vague goal of circling around the whole of sornieth.
they do want to raise their own family, but . . . you know, however many nests they hatch, the three just can't seem to hold onto their hatchlings. they don't try to be neglectful or forgetful parents, but, well, the damn kids keep disappearing! running off, or otherwise lost. boggles the mind

wandering through the ashfall wastes, trying this place to nest, that place to nest . . . while on the road, got ambushed by the Bombshells!! HOWEVER. through great skill and cunning, keratin and her consorts snagged a spot with the bandits rather than get robbed blind! there was some miscommunication involved, with keratin's muteness and her consorts' vow of silence . . . at one point, ring believed chitin had challenged them to a duel!! it did come across, however, that the three were royal/nobility, and if kept alive they might be turned in for a handsome bounty! delusion DOES intend to turn these three in at some point, but she keeps forgetting, gets distracted by more robberies and such. BUT ONE DAY! SHE SWEARS ! and until then, keratin and her consorts have settled in pretty fine. they have to have a Bombshell watching them whenever they leave the hideout, sure, but that's not too different from the days under the sea when guards escorted them outside castle grounds, yknow? sometimes the line between royalty and prisoner wears thin
