About
"I dunno what I'm doing here. I'm just doing here."

firev2.png

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:
And on the pedestal these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, king of kings;
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

One day, a day long ago, a statue stood before the Sixty-Ninth, facing into the wind that assaulted them; outstretched wings and billowing mane visible above the highest dune. And that night, there were no attacks! None at all!

What attacks?

...Well, exactly.

Boing, some named this statue; an ancient bless-word of the Sixty-Ninth. Others rightfully recognized this as a pretty dumb name, and petitioned for the great statue to be named after the great unknown that is e.

Several modest civil wars and a few lawsuits later, Bo(e)ing came to be named as such, and in true fashion of the Sixty-Ninth, absolutely nobody was happy about it.

Bo(e)ing does not understand the Sixty-Ninth any more than they understand him. But he understands the desert winds, and he understands he must stand ready for whatever the sands may bring. There is no destination, nothing to be protected; merely the endless buffeting of grains on stone, and blades on scale.

TESTRUN
She is not like Bo(e)ing. Not worshipped, like a god, as he is. She does not wear garlands, and the Sixty-Ninth don't dare assault her with candles or paints.

And yet... There's something about her, that keeps him around. Or something about him, that keeps her around? Who knows - she's not from here, and he's very much from here, so it's not like they have much in common. She writes a lot; he doesn't get it. What is there to write about?

But her roar blows the sands away. It's a welcome break, even if she seems to feel the need to write about her own breath.

ASTRID(E)
He is of the Sixty-Ninth, so he couldn't possibly understand; and yet, he talks to Bo(e)ing, as the sun rises over the dunes.

His name has a (e) in it too, you know. Bo(e)ing's is silent; Astrid(e) says his like it's part of his name, always has been, even though it apparently stands for five. How can you put five into astrid and come out with astride?

It makes little sense to Bo(e)ing, but he hardly has to comment. Astrid(e) comes back the next sunrise, and the next, opal flashing with the glint of his smile, and Bo(e)ing supposes they are friends now.

TRUTHTELLER
The scent is maddening, a mirror taken up by the desert winds and scattered across the dunes. Same, yet hardly comparable. You see, they are the same age; the same day, and that's where the similarities end. If Bo(e)ing comprehends truth, he does not care for it.

Again and again does the Truthteller, almighty and powerful in absolutely no way whatsoever, tell him to sit. He tells him to sit again, again, until the words have lost all meaning, let alone truth, and Bo(e)ing will not sit. Not rest.

Still Truthteller comes to him, day after day. But Bo(e)ing does not care, and he will not stop - for just this once, he understands.

And he hates what he understands so, so very much.

MR FLUFFLES
An abomination rolls out of the fog. He bites it, hard. It bites back. He slaps it.

It's just another scuffle, but staring into the face of the creature, Bo(e)ing feels something else, something new and something cold. It rattles down his spine, and into his jaw, and doesn't go away when he roars at the thing. Long after it has retreated, he stares into the dark.

This is not the end of it.

DABA
Why does this music make him so... angry? Bo(e)ing cannot be entirely sure why. However, he knows this: He is angry.

There is a dragon in front of him. Or possibly an alien? Whatever it is, it's probably responsible for the... the angry. If he were to, say, yeet it, then there would be no more angry.

Bo(e)ing feels awful about it later.
