one of the originals. a gaoler of the overseer order, older than hertha, the current warden. were the other gaolers to know of his existence, he’d be mocked incessantly—during his time guarding the gaol of a particularly malevolent eldritch beast from deep in the heart of the trenches, he had faced down several intruders. on a lonely shift he was surprised by a ridgeback. the intruder had ventured into the gaol in hopes of capturing and experimenting with the essence of eldritch beasts, wishing to somehow incorporate them into his nefarious spellwork. the sentinel had been shocked, and warred with the other dragon viciously…but in the end, he was killed, and his soul taken hostage. the stranger could not reach the gaoler’s charge, and was nearly ended by the other members of the order, but he escaped…satisfied with the soul of a highly reclusive and undoubtedly powerful ancient. to this day he is one of the few failures of the gaoler species.

how ironic that he should find himself eternally wandering the sea, the very site of creation of the beast he guarded.

since his exorcism from salvador’s body, the imperial has significantly fewer problems with staring.
