Zara

During a time of great tragedy, Zara migrated to the Palace of the Clouds, having nothing but the clothes on her back and her youngest child at her side. Five others of her offspring were left behind, and to this day, Zara has no way of knowing whether they lived, or how to find them if they did.

Life saw fit not to bring her only misfortune, however. When she arrived at the Palace of the Clouds, she came during a time of regional festivity. With the city awash with jubilant music and vibrant business, it was no small comfort that her daughter, Ryase, could at least be distracted with these wonders. Though she had no means to participate in any games or to purchase any food, Zara was able to find kindness through those who took pity on her and her child, not least of which was the heir to the High Vane herself, Tiranoss.

Much to her surprise, Tiranoss fostered a genuine interest in her background and the plight of her people, and Zara found a dependable ear with him. By his hand, she was given shelter, food, and clothing; and whatever favorable treatment she received of him was bestowed on Ryase twofold.

In time, Zara realized that Tiranoss was setting aside time to visit with her and spend with her not only to discuss the political and historical with her, but also to simply ask questions about her specifically. And, affected as she still was by the loss that came from being uprooted from her previous home, Zara discovered that this intrigue was a mutual thing.

After consulting the matter with her daughter, Zara committed to furthering her relationship with Tiranoss, and has enjoyed his affections for some time thereafter. She now is the mother to the High Vane's first grandson, Zizo, as well as several other children, all of which, according to her, take after their father. You may make of that what you will.
