the graveyard wraith

the phantom's name has long since been lost to time. truth be told, you wonder if anyone apart from those who knew her in life have ever been able to identify her, for if one looks upon the wraith, they are faced with nothing more than sunken cheeks and pallid skin, with eyes that see nothing and everything all at once.

you have seen her pacing the graveyard many a time now.

each night, she stops before a single grave - a faded headstone set into the earth, its inscription long eroded and washed away.

if it were not for the mourning cries, for the screams of "come back to me" that shake your core, you would think she stood above her own tomb.

only a fool would think that, if they even once saw the way she grieves.

the way she pleads for her lost love.
