Biography
Born at WindSky Weyr: Deladria's lair
Originally had Sludge 2y
Registered Night Warrior, Gen 7 through Memeissuth
Pulchrior (M) > Indra (F) > x Cedrick (M) > x Aquarius (M) > Misha (F) > Gran Mamba > MOM > ME
Ducklinth learned early that beauty was something desirable, and that she didn't have it. Her parents didn’t think her appearance was important beyond a certain darkness of coloring in tune with her heritage, but outsiders, well, they were not so accepting - nor careful with their tongues! As if a hatchling didn’t have ears, as if her feelings wouldn’t be hurt to hear, “Oh, too bad about this ugly one!” or “What a shame the Windsinger gave his blessing to her, instead of one of the pretty babies!” Rowenath would hush them, disapproving, but too late, the damage was done.
As she grew to adulthood, she found herself being passed over, again and again, when recruiters came looking for trainees to adopt and teach the skills they would need to become a fully qualified Night Warrior. All in the family? Only if you were good looking, it seemed. She grew increasingly dejected, seeing her siblings grow up and leave the Weyr - for bigger and better things, she was certain - and here she was, left behind. But Reldith wasn’t about to let her fall into depression, once it was clear she would not be among those moving on. “The Weyr is ever growing, and we need Night Warriors right here! It’s time you started your training!”
And so she got to work. It did make her feel better, knowing she had a purpose, and a place, even if it wasn’t to see the world. Somewhere along the way, her wings grew a little brighter, swirling like the wind. But by then she didn’t care quite so much. She felt perfectly worthy, as well as capable. And then she met Azoth, who looked ... different ... and with her new friend's encouragement she began to dress herself to please herself. Meanwhile, she achieved mastery of the 20th Level, and when she presented herself for Registration, she didn’t hang back. She was proud of her achievement! And prouder still to be called to protect and serve her home.
