Bluejay hadn't planned on joining Clan Maverick. He had been sent as a diplomat from another Clan, eager to make allies and establish trading partners. Clan Maverick was new, his leader had said with a knowing glint in their eyes, but it was rising in power quickly. They had few members, true, but the few members they did have were brutal and clever. Since their territories were so close together, his leader explained, they didn't want to make enemies of them. They wanted to start off on the right claw. They decided to send Bluejay specifically because he was one of their many healers, unlikely to be perceived as a threat. ྿ He didn't expect to fall in love with Clan Maverick. When he arrived, he was both fascinated and shocked. They had much less members than he had thought, and their camp looked brand new. Nikki had welcomed him joyfully, an unsettling yet intriguing look in her eyes. After spending weeks with Clan Maverick, Bluejay quickly discovered the reason why his leader had overestimated their numbers. Each fighter fought ferociously, to the point that they dealt the damage of five alone. They were good, but it finally dawned on Bluejay that it wasn't sustainable. They had no long-term healer, and barely any knowledge of herbs. It wasn't just the prospect of helping that attracted him either, it was the dragons themselves. Something about Clan Maverick was unsettling and almost off-putting, and strangely attractive. Eventually, Bluejay journeyed back to his original Clan and met with the leader. His loyalties were divided, he had admitted, and Clan Maverick needed him more. His benevolent leader gave him their blessing, and he travelled back to Clan Maverick, where he officially became their lead healer. |
