The Cauldron of Filth | Under the Lake

Riimorda is two beings - one a Pearlcatcher who fell into the Cauldron of Filth while trying to reach the hospital, and the other a primal Plague elemental, born in the Cauldron, who possessed their body before it was consumed by the lake. They emerged as one, after a month of struggle for mental and spiritual space in the body.

The distinction between the two entities within Riimorda is not immediately obvious, but they have generally accepted on certain grounds in which their consciousness and control is centred.
  • Rii is concentrated in the pearl, in the bones (particularly the bone spurs jutting out from their torso), and the upper body and tail. They have full control of their wings.
  • Morda has control of the torso and limbs, which have become marked by their resemblance to the Wyrmwound. They can no longer cast magic on their own, but they can channel their elemental powers into Rii to empower their magic.
Their bickering is well-known in the clan, and their arguments can go back and forth for days at a time. In times of crisis, however, they will cooperate - at this point in their unwitting partnership, the arguments are more of a matter of pride than anything else. A haughty Pearlcatcher and an elemental determined to push their buttons do not make peaceful bedmates.

Hoard: Rii prefers magical paraphernalia, especially incense, partly because the association with banishing demons irritates Morda. Morda, for their part, collects filth, because having to clean it off their spellbooks annoys Rii. For this reason, they tend not to keep a hoard.

Familiar:
"HAHA, IT LOOKS LIKE YOU!"
"Really? Because those gangly, gnarled limbs put me in mind of someone else."
