The black winged dragons of the clan are a group known as Frost's Claws, honored and feared in turn by the other dragons of the clan, and it is their job to carry out the will of their monarchs, whatever it may be. Their black script is barely visible against their black wings, symbolizing that they care more for their duty than the measure of their lives. Obsidian, who bears a special significance, with her hide as dark as her wings, holds an important position in the lair's religious ceremonies, as she is in charge of carrying out all their sacrifices. From slitting the throats of the massive elk the brown-winged rangers bring back alive, bound and struggling, to the offerings of beastclan raiders to please the gods with their bravery, to the occasional sacrifice of a dragon themselves, she carries them all out. She is the one who memorizes each sacrificial ceremony, and knows what is pleasing to the deities and what is not. Since a badly done sacrifice would be a disaster, insulting the deity it's meant to please and cursing the clan, she takes her duty very seriously.

Obsidian is particularly well-suited for her position. She pays lip service to the worship of the Shadowbinder, but it's the old gods of the clan who she truly reveres. The Horned Hunter, who is both hunter and prey by turn, and The Phantom Queen, the battle goddess with her cape of crow feathers, are the two she prefers above all else. However, in her work, she pays every deity due honor. After each sacrifice, she cheerfully joins in the feast, sometimes still red clawed from her previous work. She gets along particularly well with the red winged warriors, and the enthusiastic conversations about the best way to gut another dragon at their section of the table are often enough to put a more sensitive dragon off their food.

Unfortunately for such a high ranking religious figure a mistake would be quite costly. Upon making an error whilst performing a sacrifice she became cast out from her clan, considered a disgrace by them. Once Obsidian she has changed her name to Semiramis and joined an Ice Flight clan, now worshiping the Ice Warden.

Semiramis does not keep her past as such a devoted worshiper of the Shadow Binder secret from her new clan members. She was able to climb the ranks in this new clan though she will never reach the ranks she once had with her old one. Though she no longer participates in such religious ceremonies she is now valued once again and can call this lair home.
