“You can find the most fascinating things if you put in the effort.” Day 294. Thought this map might’ve been a ripoff, but finally found the ruins of the city it’s supposed to lead to. Kept missing it since it’s mostly rubble now. Shame, looks like there were some pretty mosaics once upon a time. Anyway, I started digging… Day 296. Found some stuff! An orb that’s definitely magical (stuffed that right in a dampening bag), some tablets I’ll have to get translated but seem important judging by the gold plating, and vials of something (also magical). Also a box. That one’s not magical or anything, just has fancy carvings. Think I’ll keep some of the mosaic shards in it. That was most of the magical pings I was picking up, but I’ll keep at it for a few more days in case I missed something… Day 311. The vials are… ink? Or something? Apparently they’re for an old-fashioned style of scroll-enchanting. Not really used anymore, but some collectors still go for ‘em. Now if only I could find these fabled collectors who’ll buy 'em from me… Day 354. Can’t believe it was so hard to get a translator on those tablets - Sunbeam Ruins research standards are really falling apart - but at least now I know what they are. Lineage records! Super old. Since I, at least, am still a top-notch researcher, I tracked down the surviving line and passed ‘em on. They seemed pleased. Day 378. Turns out the orb is very cursed! Or mildly cursed, I guess. Bad luck. Which is why things have been such a pain since I picked it up, dampening magic or no. Think I’ll sell it to one of those rich snobs who keep pestering me about my collection. And then use the proceeds to get better curse-detecting charms. ★ WHITEROCK (a friend (?)) Whiterock and Errai often visit the same places - Errai for forgotten relics, and Whiterock for forgotten knowledge. Both of them are secretive enough that they aren't very close companions, but they do cooperate on occasion. |
