Lichen

There are some scholars in their studies who say that fungi are the vast neural network of the planet. Lichen is this hypothesis brought into the real world in all its terrible, half-alive glory.



Lichen has been classified as a 'Goliath' by one of the few who are brave enough to approach her for long enough to observe her behavioural patterns.

For less educated dragons, Lichen is revered as a 'deity' of the section of the Tangled Woods she roams within, instead of just a mindless product of it. Her hide is scattered with various offerings made to her from those who hope that appeasing her will grant them safe passage through the dark of the forest.

If one were to observe closely, the plants themselves seem to reach out towards her as she traverses the terrain with a ghostly certainty, leaves whispering incoherently amongst themselves as the grass murmurs in agreement.

Those with the patience to listen will find that the environment seems to be conveying this gargantuan dragon's very thoughts.

"Leave now." A cacophony of plant life will wail mournfully. "It isn't safe, not for you." Roots slowly curling around, desperately grasping for the legs of the intruder. "Leave, leave, leave."
