born on the night of the stars - a day where the night is longer than usual and twice as dark; as if the sky is a vacuum, sucking away all light. but on this day, the sky is full of stars, so packed that they seem to be touching one another. you could see them all, young stars, old stars, little explosions of light as those due to leave exit in a small blaze of glory. and if you looked closely, little stars are borne from the atoms in the infinite galaxy. and at the moment where the night seems the darkest, the sky explodes in a flurry of dashing lights, as the stars travel across the unending space, as if looking for something... or someone. nobody knows where they go, or why they move, but some say they are looking for home. eventually, some will settle down, bright and twinkling, but others will slowly fade into the darkness. they are still there, though. if you squint hard enough, you can still see them shooting through the night, still searching, still yearning.
on this day, all in her village would dim the lights and come out to watch this spectacular moment. it is silent tonight, apart from the wonderous gasps of little kids and quiet replies to a million of their "why"s and "what"s and "how"s. everyone is quiet, yet there is a collective hopefulness... that the stars would find whatever it is they are looking for. they do not understand the workings of something that is far greater than they are, yet they hope. they hope as though the stars represented their own little dreams, as though if a tiny star can search through the entire galaxy and find the place they belong, perhaps they can figure that out too, in the little bit of the world they know. they hope as though if the stars can find their way home, then there really is a place for everyone in this cold, infinite universe.
and on this night, starfall is born.
an avid, lovely dancer. extremely graceful on stage and in the skies, but a surprising clutz in her day to day life. very sweet, means well. sensitive and cheerful, she's often found throughout the town, trying her best to help out with various chores and comfort those feeling down. contrary to popular belief, she's quiet and introverted by nature and enjoys spending time curled up at home, reading and researching and dancing.
