History
Aurnia was not always as big as she is now, Nor Auryn. Nor was she ever made of solid gold. She was once a regular Obelisk, enjoying Life with her mate Auryn. But one day, something happened to him that she couldnt explain, nor could the Earthshaker himself. Not even Lightweaver.
They had an Illness.
A Slowly mutating Illness.
One that would leave them both lifeless.
One that would turn them back into Solid rock.
A fate neither would've minded, if it were not the both of them. They could stand by the Statue of their lover, their partner but being turned into Material? Corroding Rock and dirt, never able to embrace one another, not even to feel the tough of the sun, locked away incase their Illness spread to the others.
They hoped, They hoped that because it was an Illness, Plaguebringer could help them. But she brought none. Auryn's Legs were already solid stone, Aurnia could feel her wings growing heaiver and heaiver.
They were both destined to become nothing but material. To Corrode and Never Love nor feel again.
Aurnia felt more than her heart crack as Auryn succumbed first, Legs, paws, claws desperately trying to move to at the least be by his side as She could see the rock outline of tears as the material climbed up until he was a statue.
What did they all expect her to pick?
To Erode away with time? Unloved and Known as nothing more but a statue to destroy? To watch in horror as they as dismantled like regular rock to make way for space?
Or to Take That Imperial's Offer?
Now they still erode, not as fast as regular dragons. Now they can still feel. They can still feel their lungs shining with Gold but they can feel that Air. They can embrace when no one is looking, They can Erode together.
Aurnia didnt mind having to watch over a pair of gates after that.
She only wished That she could still feel his soft fur after all this time But solid gold was better than what they had narrowly escaped.
