ABOUT. Death returns Dach two days too late: the flames on the pyre beneath them have started to lick their way up their wings when they wake. The warmth is... comforting. Familiar. They don't move till the fire has faded to embers. Dach's parents find them covered in soot, just stirring. The remainder of their childhood is mercifully unremarkable. Dach apprentices themselves to a mortician and learns rituals of the dead; they take over the business when their master retires. It comes quite naturally to them, you see. They already know what lies in wait on the other side, and they made their peace with it a long time ago. Till then, it's just making the necessary preparations and enjoying what time they have before the Plaguebringer calls them home. IMPRESSIONS. You can hardly tell that Dach isn't draconic; they've settled quite comfortably into the form of a guardian. Their wings are singed and they always smell of woodsmoke. Then beneath it, faintly... the stench of burning flesh. Dach wears perfume as much as possible to mask the scent. It's never enough. PAST. When children born of Ius and Os hatch from their shells, they seem, to all outward appearances, like weak and frail hatchlings not long for life. They all die on the third day of their birth, are buried and subsequently crawl from their graves two days later, looking very little like the tiny, sick half-corpses that were lowered in. There is no mourning, no solemn ceremony. If the Plaguebringer sees fit to grant them life, they will return much stronger than before. Of course, not all hatchlings emerge from the dirt.
