Deliah is complicated. She can come across as aggressive and unkind, wielding words as a weapon to keep others away from her. Yet, for those few who have braved her storm know her to be deeply loyal, and fiercely passionate about life. She can be tremendously self-sacrificing, but on the other hand is often uncomfortable with displays of emotion. She desperately craves relationships and the closeness of friendship that brings, but is too terrified to seek it out on her own. This dichotomy is due to her long history of abuse.
Her bitter and cranky side, usually stems from the constant pain she suffers from her healing scars. She has many stomach ulcers as well as deep gashes, and bite marks all over her body and wings. Her eating, due to the ulcers has been sporadic at best making it harder on her body to heal itself like it wants to do. Her eating habits have caused her scales to become dull and colorless.
She also suffers from negligible levels of self-esteem and self-worth. She is penetratingly perceptive but uses it to keep others from seeing her own vulnerabilities.
These days, thanks to Florian’s love, care, and healing teas, Deliah’s stomach ulcers do not bother her as much and as a result she is able to eat more regularly. Now that her body gets more of the nutrients it needs on a normal basis, a change has been see coming over her body and soul.
Deliah’s scars are healing and even her scales are changing, the natural rainbow of color returning with a pearly sheen over them. She is considered one of the most beautiful dragons of the clan.
Deliah’s disposition has also begun to change. While she is still defensive and has a hard time trusting any but her few friends, she hardly ever lashes out at anyone. She is still quiet and everyone, especially the hatchlings, have learned to give her the space she needs. Deliah knows what everyone has done for her, and in her heart, she is very grateful, even if she can’t say or show it very well. She has taken up tailoring and has excelled at it. She makes and repairs clothes in side Florian’s tea shop, where she is comfortable and can be close to the dragon who makes her feel safe.
She still has quite a bit of healing to do, inside and out, but she can see how far she’s already come. Although she still isolates herself from others, and is almost never seen with her mate, Florian, nearby, she has made friends with Bumble the flower gatherer and Anuket, the healer.
