Aurelius was sculpted by the fiends themselves. They used cursed chunks of gold and metal, hoping that the magic within would create an exponentially strong obelisk. Malarkey studied Earthshaker's magic and after experimenting with lesser statues, she was able to awaken Aurelius. In time, the obelisk would become an important chess piece for them.

Ever since his awakening, they planted seeds of hatred towards the Guild. Telling Aurelius how the Guild was just full of greedy hypocrites looking to make a profit while pretending to be there to help.

And just like others before him, Aurelius bought into their lies and started to study magic; a forbidden and banned kind of magic. The Fiends raided old temples and libraries to find old tomes for the obelisk to read, but fortunately for the rest of Sornieth - information about time magic is sparse.

So it will take them a while to be able to cause any harm.
