Ragisei, or 'Radge' as he's sometimes called, is a squirrely Pearlcatcher who, of all his siblings, has been the only one to inherit his mother's unfortunate condition. The quality of his life will surely decline rapidly near the end as the secretions of his skin harden, layer by layer, to make him a living statue, frozen and silently observing for all time. Pearl Statue subspecies. Contrary to what one might expect from such a morbidly-fated dragon, Radge takes his doom as a challenge and embraces each day as wildly and vividly as he can. With all his verve, some of the Laospí say he inherited his father's Nature soul as well as his mother's broken genome, and Radge is perhaps the only plague dragon who is proud of that rumor. |

In fact, Radge grew up asking Bara for tales of the massive forests of his homeland; only his youngest brother Lucerne would stay with him while his other two brothers were off getting into trouble. He and Lucerne are nearly inseparable-- he works metal and 'Lucy' works the color of cloth with a true craftsman's joy-- and they have whiled away many hours putting together strange sculptures of metal bones and stained canvas skin which blew in the acrid winds of the Wastes like scarecrows across its cracked plains.
For now, Radge continues practicing the unique talents gifted to him by his odd condition: the silver encrustations across his body came from within, and he can call forth other metal by tapping into his own spirit. Silver comes easiest to him, and after that hematite and magnetite, but any metal can be coaxed from its rocky home if he gives it enough time. Lately, he's been wondering if Nature-- or any other territory-- would really be as uninteresting as some in the Laospí claim. Secretly he dreams of abandoning the group one day and making his own adventures out there in the wide world of Sornieth. Perhaps, when the time is right, he'll actually do it.... |
