There was once a young queen who was an expert powerful magics. Her father before her had been a tyrant, and she sought to follow in his footsteps by expanding her rule, conquering neighboring peoples, and turning her kingdom into an empire.

But just as the magpies flock together against the eagle, so too did her enemies band together against her. The war turned inwards, and soon enough the vengeful armies were at her gates.

In desperation, she attempted a powerful spell to drive them away. The details of the spell have been lost to time and ruin, but it was said to have been connected to a benevolent god from another realm.

She could not hope to control such powerful magic, and it caused the two realms to collide with calamitous results.

History says the queen died in the calamity, her body torn apart by her own magic.

But rumors circulate about a ghost in the ruins of the old castle, a shapeshifter with tattered wings, wearing the crown jewels and banner of the old world.
