╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯At his core, Finley is a natural people-pleaser. He’s always eager and ready to help others and takes great pride in accomplishing something for others. This is not to say he’s without his faults. In fact, his eagerness to help often gets him into trouble when he forgets to think about himself from time to time. When he does put his boundless energy toward himself instead of listening to others’ instructions, he usually works on one of many hobbies he enjoys or hangs out with his friends. He is always looking to learn something new, whether it be a practical skill or just something for fun. His sister’s disappearance two years ago, however, sparked a bit of change in Finley. He grew to be anxious, first due to worry for her, and then later it grew to be general. To this day, he isn’t fully certain how to deal with it properly, and tends to throw himself into projects for others blindly to lessen the nerves. He also doesn’t take rejection well and withdraws if his aid isn’t wanted. Finley does his best to work through it, but he’s still learning. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Before The Tents

He knew that fae was unaware that he knew of faer ‘secret’ excursions out of the chasm, but he never wanted to take away from faer solitude. When she never came home, even after a few days had passed… Finley started to get worried. He did all that he could to find her, asking everyone who may have seen her where she could have gone. He learned what he could, and searched tirelessly, but it was to no avail. For two years, all of his leads turned up dry (if they were even true leads to begin with -- he knew he was a little gullible) and finally he realised he might need to give up on Merrick. It was midday the next day after pulling an all nighter searching when he came across a pop up market not far from The Source. It struck him as odd, but his sleep-deprivation didn’t exactly want to question it. He figured he’d browse for a while as a treat after such a long day and then head back home. Making his way through the market, stall by stall, he finally came across one selling little models -- a blacksmith’s forge, a book shop, a cozy den… He didn’t realise that when the shop attendant went to bring the artist that he’d be coming face-to-face with the one he’d been missing most, and even less that fae would be completely unaware of the time that had passed. ╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮

Merrick's disappearance crushed Finley for a little while, and when he found the city, he immediately wanted to do everything in his power to ensure faer safety and comfort. He didn't realise that his anxiety released itself in such an overbearing way --he didn't mean to. He just wanted to help. Slowly, he's trying to learn to trust that Merrick isn't going to go missing again, nor is fae incapable of doing things without his direct assistance. Above all, he just wants his relationship with his sister to be easy again, though the disparity in sense of time has certainly made that difficult.
