Vesuvianite (or idocrase) is a silicate mineral that is uncommonly found in the gemstone business. Brown, olive green, sometimes with a tinge of purple or pink, rarely blue, it's associated with metamorphic rocks, such as skarn deposites and limestones that have been subjected to contact metamorphism. Its hardness on the mohs scale is 6.5, and it has a vitreous or resinous sheen.

Spiritually, some will use vesuvianite stones in meditation to help them deal with past trauma.
