Hywela
She didn’t mean to do it the first time. It just happened. It was a heated argument. He was hurting her. So she lashed out and now he wasn’t in the mortal world anymore. But then it kept happening. She didn’t grow up in a very safe area. Here dragons got away with heinous things, and Hywela grew sick of it. She took matters into her own hands, and she ended up being caught red handed. Of course she got caught, but the ones who did worse, the ones she handled herself, of course they were the ones who got away. Her mother defended her. Of course she did, she was a good mother, Solstice was. But her mind was failing her, growing foggy everyday. Her foggy mind only ended up getting Hywela into more trouble. They had to flee their home in the Tangled Woods. They ended up in a little Light Clan called Seeking Clan. Here they were taken in without question. At Seeking Clan Hywela had met Sapphiremoon and she grew sympathetic to the skydancer’s struggles. It angered her how Sapphire was left trapped here to suffer. Hywela vowed to help Sapphire, no matter the cost. She respected Sapphire and though she denies it to this day, loved Sapphire in a romantic sense. Hywela was ecstatic at Sapphire’s plan to kill the clan leader, Nightbane. Killing was easy. Killing was something Hywela knew how to do, and with the way Sapphire had painted Nightbane, it was easy to convince Hywela that Nightbane deserved to die. Somewhere along the line Hywela convinced herself that Solstice needed to die too. She was weak, and like Sapphire said, weak dragons died. It was the rule of the world. So Hywela followed Sapphire down the bloody path that led to Seeking Clan’s Civil War. The war ended with the clan being split in two. Nightbane (as well as Solstice) had survived, but Sapphiremoon had not. It devastated Hywela, but when given the choice to follow Nightbane to seek help from the Lightweaver, or to stay and be ruled over by the mysterious mirror known as Shiningscourge who had killed Sapphire, Hywela chose Nightbane. Hywela was imprisoned by the clan which had been renamed Clan Ton Theon. They didn’t know what to do with her, and she couldn’t blame them. She didn’t know what to do with herself. But oddly enough she found happiness in this dark time. The only other clan prisoner was an undead mirror known as Frankenstein. Franky had also fought alongside Sapphire, but Hywela didn’t get to know her until talking to her was all there was to pass the time. Hywela grew close to Franky, and after hearing about everything Franky had been through, she wanted to become a better dragon. She wanted to learn to be more peaceful, to move away from the violence that had led her to the awful place she was now. She wanted to be this for Franky, because her heart couldn’t help but fall in love. Today both Hywela and Franky are free dragons living in Clan Ton Theon. They are a couple and they are raising Franky’s daughter Tarasque together. It wasn’t easy to convince the clan that Hywela had changed, but through hard work and with Franky’s help she proved herself to the clan and repaired their trust in her. Hywela also mended her relationship with her mother and helps to take care of her in her old age. |
