"...Next to the Citadel’s entrance, on a sharp twist of glass-like black stone, sat an impressive looking statue of a pearlcatcher, going by the, well, pearl. Scant rays of the early dawn haloed it in a molten glow, dew drops rolling off like magma rivers through the Blacksand. It seemed to be poured from some sort of polished metal alloy and it’s wings - outstretched to each side - made of crystal filed so thin, that the rays of dawn filtered through it. I have half the mind to ask around for the sculptor; everyone likes a shiny little trinket and it wouldn’t hurt to learn how to make it shinier. They may be reluctant to part with the knowledge, but I’m no stranger to sweet little gifts of gems and gold. The sculptor, or perhaps an enchanter, also must have deemed it fit to imbue a little magic into it (a cute little trick, nothing extremely hard to achieve) as the eyes were akin to flames licking up the sides of a hungry furnace. That said, there was something that struck me as bit odd. As I came closer to the vast doors of the Citadel, I looked back at the statue, simply to marvel, only to find it looking back at me. I was sure that it’s head was not turned towards the door. Perhaps I’ll ask the sculptor about that as well..."
