Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this cursed visionary wandered a little too far from her home lair (KingVulture, 437722), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting her!

Important note: Please only trade this dragon on travelling dragon threads, as opposed to places such as the Auction House.

Summerstone would like to receive a permanent home someday, so if you'd like to adopt her after she's been travelling long enough, just let her owner know!

I had a dream last night, the world was set on fire
And everywhere I ran, there wasn't any water
The temperature increased, the sky was crimson red
The clouds turned into smoke, and everyone was dead.

-"Just Another Day" - Oingo Boingo

Summerstone has always had an odd curse. Her father always tried to find ways to lessen its effects, but the attempts were unfortunately in vain. Summerstone constantly has visions showing catastrophic events. She's fairly certain these visions won't come true... but it doesn't make it any better.

Summerstone is seeking out ways to make her curse less horrific, or even break the curse entirely. As long as it means she won't suddenly wake up screaming after a nightmare anymore.

as she was visiting a nice group of dethroned royals, she met an Imperial named Nikita. the stary purple and black dragon Offred her some magical assistance. the two puzzled over Summer's strange curse, while Nikita couldn't find a cure, she did happen upon a spell which can ease the curse and make it at least somewhat better. she placed the spell on an armlet she had spares of laying around. Summer happily takes the armlet and gets ready to leave from her stay with the dethroned royals.

Summerstone found her way to the Constellation Clan, where she was stopped at the entrance by the chief of security, Serynex, a quiet and unassuming Tundra. He could immediately smell something was off about Summerstone; he wasn't sure what, but it wasn't good. He denied entrance at first, but as she explained her purpose for traveling and desperation to be rid of her strange curse, he hesitantly allowed her through the gates.

She was guided to the sector of the clan that would have the most knowledge about curses: the mage's lair. Umbra knew the most about curses and dark magick through her studies. She offered to examine Summerstone and the enchanted armlet she wore. After working through the night, Umbra came to the conclusion that the curse had been intentionally placed upon her as a hatchling. Summerstone was perplexed, as she had no idea who could've despised her enough to do such a thing. Umbra explained further that the armlet she wore would only last so long, as the small piece of jewelry was not magically strong enough to withstand the power of the curse. She had to find something bigger if she wanted to keep the spell working. Summerstone begged Umbra to help her; anything at all that she could do to maintain the enchantment.

Umbra pondered a solution, her body twisting in knots and loops while simultaneously searching through her collection of items and muttering under her breath. It was her way of thinking, apparently. Just when Summerstone was about to become dizzy watching the mage, she held out a small patchwork doll in the rough likeness of a mirror dragon with yellow pins stuck into the body. As Summerstone took the doll, a powerful wave of magick energy surged from her hands and spread throughout her body. She cried out in shock, unsure if it was helping or making it worse, but Umbra assured her it was the former. She could feel an aura radiating off this strange figurine, which was explained by the dark mage as being "essentially the same spell as your armlet, just in a larger vessel." Summerstone thanked her profusely and cradled the doll within her curly chest fur. Even though the curse had not been lifted just yet, she was one step closer to managing it better. As she looked up to ask Umbra if she would be willing to take her in as a student so she could learn more, the perpetually mobile spiral had already disappeared... She took that as her cue to leave, and once again set her sights on a new place, hoping to find an answer for who had cursed her at birth and why.

Summerstone blew into the wind territories around Singer's Brook. She had heard from other travelers that being in the soothing presence of bamboo could help calm nerves and potentially offer peaceful sleep. She walked through the bamboo forests for a time, before coming upon a well-read looking fellow. Gliding over to him, she asked him if he knew of anyone or anywhere that could help with her curse. He introduced himself as Thaddeus and asked her to follow him to his clan, The Spectrum.

Walking in, she saw lots of dragons of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Thaddeus took her into a library of sorts and introduced her to Athena, the head librarian, and Flynn, the head scroll keeper, who were also mates. They searched for books for her and Thaddeus to look through to find references to curses and how to dispel them. Summerstone read and read and read until her eyes closed. She was awoken later by who she originally thought of as a dream monster, but once she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, was actually a pearlcatcher in ritualistic attire. The pearlcatcher said her name was Soul and the follow her at her leisure. She had a far-off look in her eyes which made Summerstone uneasy. Looking around, she saw that the other dragons must have gone off somewhere else, or to bed based on the hour, so she chose to follow Soul.

Soul led Summerstone into a dim lair that smelled of herbs and other pungent things, she was clearly a shaman or spirit-worker of some sort. Nervously descending into the lair, she found she became more comforted the longer she was in there. Compared to her nightmares, this actually wasn't that scary. Soul was bent over a pool of water in the corner of the lair, beckoning Summerstone forward without a word. Gulping, Summerstone looked into the pool of water as well. At first she saw nothing, but then hers and Soul's reflections melded into one and she was seeing the monsters from the nightmares play out before her in the pool. But she was able to observe them rather than deal with them. They seemed to be sinister to a fault, almost taunting her to come closer, she swore the flames were creating light from the pool itself. She could feel herself leaning toward the pool. The creature reached out to her, and as she thought it would reach her and engulf her in flames...a bucket of cold water was dumped on her head. Snapping out of it she stumbled back, in shock. Soul was holding a now empty bucket looking at her with those knowing, glazed-over-looking eyes.

Having returned to the wastelands of her birth Flight, Summerstone headed towards the cauldrons of Quarantine Zone #128. She had caught whiff of a dragon here who might be able to help her- a Necromancer who apparently specialized in removing curses. While her nightmares had eased somewhat since the start of her journey, this had only made her more driven towards getting rid of her curse. After all, if there was a way to ease the pain, surely there would be a way to get rid of it entirely?

Unfortunately, it turned out that this was not the dragon who could do that for her. While Kahina was capable of removing curses, that was only through her ability to transfer diseases. Anything else and she would have about have as much capability of removing it as Summerstone herself did. Although the Mirror had nothing to help continue Summerstone's quest, Summerstone still accepted her offer to stay in her hut to get a rest from her travels. During this time, Summerstone found Kahina to be good company as they slowly became friends. Once it was time for Summerstone to leave, the Obelisk was pleasantly surprised by a hug from Kahina. "May Her gaze keep you safe, friend. Good luck."

Soon afterwards, Summerstone flew off aimlessly into the sky, letting the winds carry her to her next adventure.

Summerstone didnt get very far before she felt a SPLAT on her wings from a giant paintball except that it wasnt a paint ball it was a snot ball and it was causing her to plummet into the swampy fleshy ground. When she fell she was caught by a motorcycle who was like sorry mac i did not mean to almost kill U. and he offered to give her a motorcycle ride which she was a little nervous about becase she had never driven a motorcycle but luckily he can drive himself. so theyre driving and she mentiones that she has a horrible curse on her and SNOTROD (the vehicle) says oh yeah i know a guy. actually a girl. actually two girls. and she says okay. and so SNOTROD Drops summerstone off at thr doctors office And wheelies away

Unfortunately the doctor was doctor rippentear who wanted to disassemble her into tiny itty bitty bits and whose foul and toxic energies caused summerstones consciousness to immediately launch into a play-by-play of her own death in a catastrophic telephone booth accident so she ran away screaming

When she left the doctors office she ended up falling RIGHT into a swamp with a bunch of flies, cheese, dead things, etc. it was really awful and did not help her brain at all but out of the swamp emerged THETHING, who looked really scary but was actually really wise. She was thr wizard of thr swamp and she was perhPs the only entity in this whole house who could maybe help Summerstone. and so THETHING said this to her and summerstone said okay snd explained the deets to THETHING because what could possibly go wrong. And THETHING thought and thoguht and thoguht and thoguht and thought and thoguht and said nope sorry cant help you. and summerstone began to cry but then THETHING said hahahahhahaha just kidding. sodry that was mean. Anyways i have some mud for you to drink and it will help you get thriguh the next few nights. come back in a few months or so and i'll have a better solution for you. haha get it solution. because its. liquid.

And summerstone was kind of resentful of THETHING because they were a jerk and not that helpful but she was grateful for ghe mud and so she said thanks and took it with her. that night she drank thr mud and she slept like a baby lamb except that the next morning she had thr worst digestive issues she ever had in her life

After a long week of traveling, Summerstone made her way into the water territories. On her way into one of the clans, she bumped into a fellow traveling Obelisk whos name was Noodle. Noodle was a bit odd but surprisingly this made Summerstone more comfortable with her. The pair became friends and discovered the clan they were at is called Clan Serpentine. Perhaps this clan can help...

Summerstone greeted the dragons with a respectful nod as she scouted for any medics...or whoever looks like they can handle curses. Eventually she did meet a coatl named Lucky who claims to specialize in magic. "Can you help me? I have this curse...I can't sleep peacefully because of these horrible nightmares I get." The coatl would look at her with this odd but certain look. "Ohhh, I don't have any magic spells for that yet, but I do have one to help with insomnia! Perhaps that can help?" Summerstone was desperate, so she said yes. Lucky would gather some materials and start speaking in a weird tongue while Summerstone's body was surrounded by blue symbols. "Finished! Let me know how you feel in the morning!" Summerstone said her thanks and waited for the sun to set. "Maybe I'm finally free," was her last thought before settling in a spare nest.

When her eyes shut and her mind dozed, she felt at peace. She felt light like a bird's feather flowing gently in the wind. Then, like some cruel prank, she was quickly pulled from her couple seconds of safety down into in a dull environment with a cacophony of screams and roars. Her tail felt tugged and she looked behind to see just two pairs of eyes faintly darkened by all the reds. She suddenly woke up with her heart running on adrenaline and quickly ran out.

"Hey there, how did yo-" Lucky didn't even get to finish her question before Summerstone knocked her over in her pursuit to excape. She would also accidentally stomp on the tail of a Dappled Seal which screeched in pain. Her muscles were so pumped with adrenaline that she didn't even stop for long to check if the poor creature was alright. Summerstone was able to catch a glimpse of her friend Noodle's horrified face. She flew off in the air and flapped her wings erratically. "I need to find a cure. No..I must find a cure."
The winds led her to a town called Port Aponia, located on the Churnscar Wharf. Like most travellers sifting through the town, she ended up at the Flowing Taurus, and, like always, she was on the lookout for someone who looked like they could help. A certain Skydancer caught her eye.
"You look like someone who knows magic well" she approached them, trying her best not to let her worries show through the fiendly facade.
"That I do indeed"
Summerstone explained her situation to Witch.

"I must find a cure!"
Witch pondered for a while before getting up and gesturing at her.
"Follow me, Summerstone. If there's anyone who knows dreams, it would be Shilk."

They made their way to the little cottage at the outskirts of the town,
"Please, you must help me!" she pleaded, the tiny Veilspun was sat perched on her claw.
Shilk gestured for Summerstone to go inside the cottage. The place was filled with scent of herbs, there was a cauldron on the fire, bubbling away lazily. With Witch's help, Summerstone soon had a cozy place to sleep on.
"You're gonna have to spend a few nights here, while Shilk and I work on finding out what this curse is"
So Summerstone stayed with them. While in the cottage she didn't have any bad dreams, but Witch had informed her that it was only due to Shilk's protective work.

She only left the cottage for a few days when Wavecrest Saturnalia began. The Eleven know that she needed to unwind a bit. Besides, Witch and Shilk worked really hard to help her. As much as she wanted to hurry with finding the cure, they deserved a break!

She stayed a few nights more with them after the festivities ended. And in those few nights, Witch and Shilk made significant progress.
"Well, we narrowed down some specifics of your condition."
"Tell me" Summerstone demanded, maybe a bit more desperately than she'd like to.
"First off, the visions are not prophetic in nature." If anyone would know prophecies that would be Water dragons, makes sense.
"I figured that much, none of them came true yet"
Witch just nodded "Second, you won't be able to break it yourself"
"What do you mean" Summerstone panicked "Don't tell me I'm going to be cursed forever!"
"Not at all! Don't worry. What I meant is, while some curses can be broken by the one they're placed upon, others need an... external source of breaking. Or at least external help."
"So it can be broken!"
Not yet. a small voice rang inside her head like the melody of a wind chime. Shilk rarely communicated in such direct manner, usually relying on Witch to relay what she had to say.
"Not yet? Then when!" Summerstone dug her claws into the floor of the cottage, sound of splintering wood bgrounding her and bringing her back to her senses.
Whoever placed the curse upon you, also gave conditions that need to be met before the curse can be broken. We do not know what those are, just that they haven't all been met yet.
Summerstone felt a wave of emotions swelling up inside her heart. On one hand, Witch and Shilk had been very helpful, but her mind kept going to whoever placed the curse upon her. Not only was she cursed, she also needed to meet some unknown conditions to break the curse?!
"There's one more thing we have for you" Witch said, and Shilk flutttered away to retrieve a small necklace. "It's not going to cure you completely. But you'll be able to store the nightmares inside this vial. You won't experience the visions unless you open it."
Summerstone's joy gave way to uncertainty as se realized the implications "But I'm goint to have to open it to empty it, right? So I'm going to have to see the visions anyway..."
"You or someone else" Witch said, unceremoniously. "While it's not a cure by any means, it will let you control when you face your visions. So you won't be caught unaware by the nightmare, unless you delay emptying the vial."
That's more than she had hoped for. She learned more about the curse, and got another tool to control it. Betwween the phylactery, the armlet and the vial she felt she could manage.
