A hive, when left to its own devices, may develop odd coloration. Some of them are of a variety known as Sentinels (created by V0iCEB0X), which are colored to blend in with their environment, and can stay statue-still for days at a time on the edges of a hive's territory, acting as scouts. Like pure drones, strange drones can have mutated tertiaries as well, the effects of which are highly variable.

Opal has several possibilities. The first is injury: a cracked carapace, revealing muscle and bone beneath. The second is a simple mutation, where parts of the carapace have hardened beyond standards and may aid the drone in fighting. The third is a botched assimilation, where parts of the drone didn’t transform and reveal colors and patterns that were on their old hide.

> MULTI-GAZE
These eyes are considered a bizarre mutation by most consciousnesses, an infringement somewhat akin to a tertiary gene. If the drone can see out of its eyes, the consciousness may assign them to guard duty or some other job wherein extra eyes are useful. If the eyes are benign, the drone is often killed or chased off, for fear that something else may be watching out of them...
