You'd expect a dragon named Slotter would be interested in, or at least curious about, gambling, but Slotter's thoughts have been literally consumed with food since he was a hatchling. It's not necessarily the taste or the eating of it, but the gathering and making of it. And everybody knows the Coliseum is the best place to get food.

Maybe he starved once. Or someone important to him did. Perhaps he sees having a lot of food as a physical representation of power and status, and that's why he's obsessed with it. There's most likely no special reason or motivation behind his mania for food, but it's fun to imagine there is, so his story changes every time someone asks. He's obsessed with food because he was a gourmet in a past life. Or an artist who only found inspiration in a delicious dish. No, he must have received a divine message from the Tidelord that his destiny lay solely in food.

Any way Slotter looked at it, gathering food was all he wanted to do, and he didn't mind if anyone came with him. Food always tastes better when shared with others.
