Biography
"The Stalwart General of the Three Kingdoms of the Tidecaller. He is Guanqiu" - Balgrid, Clan leader of the Lunar Guild
Although he seems gruff and quiet, Guanqiu is actually a rather genteel and sociable dragon, if one were to give him the chance. After a time, or two it seemed, of service to the mighty Tidecaller, the tired, but loyal, general sought an audience with his Flight's guardian. It was not common that a general as highly ranked as he was to ask for a leave, let alone a permanent one, but the obsidian scaled Imperial sought only to leave the good graces of the Tidecaller for a place to rest his claws, his mind and to be at peace.
The Tidecaller looked upon his general, his loyal flight kin of many an age and simply smiled, giving a small tilt of the head before nodding. There were no words from his grace, but Guanqiu needed none, for the smile, the look in the eyes of one who he would give his life for, was more than the old soldier could ask for.
So, bidding his birth lair mates farewell (brothers, sisters, mother and father, cousins and even some just friends), he strode out into the day, a new day. and set off to find what would be home. It was not that where he came from was not home, no. It was just.. he wanted a space that he could relax. Where he did not have to worry about fighting on a day to day basis. Sure, he'd likely train lightly in his new home, but it would not be the wars and body strewn battles he was accustomed to. No.. this home would be his peace. His serenity. His light.
A day or so travel would set Guanqiu at the edge of the lush green lands that he once enjoyed the beauty of, replaced with what was known as the Frigid Floes; a vast expanse of sea as far as the eye could take in, broken off pieces of icebergs floating without so much as a ripple being cast. The water itself was a shade of blue that rivaled even those pools in the realm of the Tidecaller. The trees that grew here, much like the shrubbery, was that of different variations of pine, only adding to the allure of this incredibly beautiful landscape. Even with the still, quite, calming atmosphere here, Guanqiu found himself excited. Excited that he may have found what he was looking for.
It was here that the General met someone he thought he'd never see again. Erebos. A former kinsmen in arms, the scarred Ridgeback was a sight for aging, sore eyes. The two embraced in front a well kept and rather immaculate lair, showing a fondness in that one motion the two had not seen in a time from a friend. They spoke quickly, as if kids that had not seen a friend in years, and it was after those rushed words that Erebos had dashed into the lair and come out with several of his lair mates, all of who were grinning widely.
They seemed happy to see a new member, specially one that their brethren knew.. but it was a female Wildclaw that caught Guanqiu's attention. She was standing off to left with another of the females, a wildclaw, smiling ever so softly. She was Black with a white underbelly and wings, her body lined with a curious dark green pattern.. almost tribal, but he heard it called 'circuit'. It was not something he'd seen a lot of, but it suited her magnificently. Erebos had caught his old friend's gaze and just shook his head, ushering his lair mates into the cave. Guanqiu would not be going anywhere.. For if this Wildclaw were to be here.. He, surely, had found his peace.
But then, even the, what looked to be, happiest of endings ended with Eir passing on from illness. Devastated, Guanqiu put himself in a state of near exile, only appearing for food and to very briefly visit with Erebos. The elder dragon didn't know what to do anymore, if he could ever be happy. And then, a smaller, coal and obsidian colored Wildclaw joined their clan, her body marked in a similar interesting, near tribal way, brilliantly blotched all over her body, a lone dragon that had saught shelter in a storm so frequent to their world of ice and snow, and he heard her speak her name. Eir. It was as if his beloved had wanted to make it plain that he could no longer be this way, hidden away from everything for several months, the elder telling himself he would protect her with everything he had, to see that the young dragoness would not want for anything. The jewels and various trinkets she wear are gifts from him, but the elder keeps his distance. Neither dragon is ready for a commitment. But life, indeed, worked in mysterious ways.
