- the first imperial Lux ever faced- he used mind magic to hypnotize Vassal and was ready to end him
- instead, Lux decided to keep him as something of a trophy, using him to help fight the imperials they'd be hunting
- Vassal did not come quietly, so Lux created a permanent hypnotic spell and imbued it into the necklace Vassal wears
- the imperial lives in a dissociated state, only vaguely aware of what he's doing under Lux's orders
- the pearlcatcher mask is one of Lux's many cruel jokes
