They are not the only one to have suffered at necromancers' hands. Strangolapreti listens to his haunting ghost.
His body is fragile, breaking apart and reforming only by the strength of his lingering, summoned will. But his claws are forever. 
What some say he has instead of a heart - he is all fire, all raw elemental energy bound to form. He wonders how long before he burns out.
He is glad of his fierce magic, that powers him on even now - but he needs something to dim the light warning of his approach.

Lit. "priest-stranglers" PERSONALITY It was them that made him what he was. That set him on this path, that hunted him to his death, one of theirs who found his mouldering remains and dragged him soulless back. One of them, one of them, one of them. He has no soul, he is not truly alive, he does not need to draw breath - but he remembers. Oh, he remembers. There are none this one hates as much as them. ABOUT What is he but rage? He never asked to become what he was forced towards. He never asked for his Trial to be corrupted by another seeking to prove themselves, never asked to be hunted for what he became, never asked to die, even, for all that what he became was not what he would ever have wished, was not what he sought to be. It was what he was. He would claim that. He was not allowed to. He clung to his plague too strongly for any to neutralise him so they culled him from the herd, took from him what strains they chose and left him there in the breathing skein of muscle-loam until his bones became the pebbles of the hillside. He should have been left there. At least then he might have moved onwards. He was not allowed to. Necromancers! Always Necromancers, always they, who saw his fiery strength and set him to the trials, who saw his fire and thought him less then plague, a fair target, who saw his fever-plague and decided him a challenge to prove their strength and now it is they again, one corrupted by Shade in their seeking strength that wraps their magic around his bones and pulls him b a c k. He never asked for this. He never wanted this. Why is it that, over and over, they must impose their wills on him! Upon his life! Why cannot they let him be, let him be free, why can they not mind themselves and let him mind himself, why must they involve themselves where they are not wanted, are not needed are not sought- But he knows why. He knows their arrogance. He is hollow now, brought back improperly - if ever being brought back to life itself could ever be deemed proper - but it hardly matters. A soul does not mean emotion, does not mean memory - he is himself still but his energy comes from those two things, not any lingering life force. He knows Pallida is entreating Geras, asking if perhaps the rite the Everyoung used to return Carmilla to herself might be used to tear him free of his feral rage but he does not want that, not when there are so many who have sinned against him left out in the world. They had not neutralised his plague then. These will not tame his anger now. He is glad they have turned from the path of Necromancers. Glad they have sought something else entirely, glad they learn and research rather than impose their will. He only hopes that means they will not try to force him into a shape he is not yet ready to fit. RELATIONSHIPS
