Biography

21131.png DOMNINA the FRAGMENTED ⚔

Domnina wandered out of Loxias' library one early morning. No explanation was ever given for her appearance, but Cassandre, indifferent to her unusual origins, took an immediate liking to her. Although she had no memories or notion of who she was, she was clearly perceptive and intelligent and, to everyone's surprise, capable of speech in more than one language. Years have passed since her appearance, and she has proved herself an open, high-spirited person, so frank and playful that the strangeness of her nature is not apparent at first glance.

There's no denying that Domnina is odd. Some days she makes great strides in her research and banters easily with the other members of the clan; some days she lurks around the edges of the camp, emitting unearthly noises that sound like the hymns of an unknown, angelic race. She rarely sits still, but when she does, the others can't help but notice that she seems to glitch, sometimes. Her colors shift, just for an instant, or the edges of her shape morph into something different, something much larger.

The mystery of her existence has never stopped haunting Domnina. To Cassandre she has quietly admitted that she doesn't only look strange, she also often feels strange. She experiences a terrible mix of normal sensations that seem to correspond to the world around her, and abnormal thoughts and emotions, indescribable ones that have no referent whatsoever in her physical reality. This experience, which Domnina describes as terrifying, has led her to seek out texts and paraphernalia related to alternate dimensions, other worlds, and other planes of reality.

In the deep, honeycomb network of caves beyond Loxias' library, Domnina has developed a research library of her own. It is not always a pleasant place for others. Otherworldly objects that seem to bend the laws of physics are everywhere. The passages are lined floor to ceiling with mirrors. If one can stomach the unsettling environment, one will find an excellent, well curated collection of texts, and Domnina's library, like Loxias', has attracted its fair share of orbiters.

There are some who say, however, that the space that Domnina has created for herself is an elaborate exercise in self-deception, a great puzzle box that only exists to distract her from the reality that she doesn't want to face: that she is not, in fact, a denizen of another world, but instead just an accident, a flawed creature borne from one of Loxias' botched experiments.

Others whisper that Domnina is too trusting, and that, although Loxias has played at magnanimity in giving her room to explore her delusions, he has not told her all that he knows about her origins. This idea disturbs Domnina greatly.

She remains close with Cassandre, who made her feel welcome from the day of her mysterious manifestation. Her closest friend is Celehar, and the two tend to take each other's side in the conflicts that regularly divide the researchers. As they both have physiologies which they cannot quite control, they feel that they can relate to each other more than anyone else, and their bond is very deep.
