 > Quick Run-Down... Eccentric horologist and inventor --currently on the run from violent debt collectors in Goldensparc-- Shocklight travels the world in vis newly reparied semi-sentient Kyte. Ve is just a little obsessed with time, and in fact is acutely aware of its passing every second of every day. Others find this off-putting, paired with vis stutter and other quirks, causing them to avoid vim, but thankfully vis new partners don't mind. Shocklight is incredibly smart and numbers-oriented; ve always has something to tinker with vis paws and a problem to solve. There is very little ve wouldn't do for vis partners. Including murder. Which ve has done on a few occasions, and will do again if the need arises. |

Loves tea, numbers, loose clothing, and never shutting up. Always something to do, always fidgeting. Handles constrictive clothing, sudden loud noises, and stagnation poorly. > More Backstory? It was sheer skill and a little bit of luck that landed Shocklight in the capital, and ve couldn’t be happier. City life suited vim, far more than the chasm from which ve originated, and ve jumped at the chance to get out as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Ve never felt as if ve completely fit in there anyway. At least in the city it was normalised to be a fly on the wall. Horology --that is, the study of time and its measurement-- was an interest back home that only grew into an obsession with the increased pressure of the city to create, to sell, to work. Ve didn’t have many friends and indeed did not look for many, but did have some regular customers, and that’s all ve needed. As time went on, the more perceptive of regulars may have noticed that Shocklight started to seem a little… off. They would share glances while watching the red dragon work on whatever repair they’d ordered, noticing that vis paws shook more and more when not working with fine gears. To some, it was no surprise when Shocklight’s shop just never opened back up one morning, though they could not place why. To others, they hardly noticed, only angered that they’d have to find a new clockmaker of similar quality. |
> Personal Details... Shocklight is of the talkative, eccentric sort. At least, when it comes to time and the passage of such. While bright, vis gaze tends to be a little distant, which other dragons find off putting. In fact, most dragons tend to ignore vis existence, unless they have need of vis particular set of skills. If Shocklight notices their avoidance, well... It certainly hasn't bothered vim. Ve keeps perfect track of time, noting every second of every day with that tail of vis flicking at a steady, perfect 60 beats-per-minute. It's an unconscious thing, and even happens in vis sleep. If one pays attention, Shocklight vixself acts as a clock, tail flicking with the second and softly muttering numbers under vis breath at every hour on the hour. Given the opportunity, Shocklight will happily have a conversation with just about anyone, so long as it's an interesting topic and they don't mind vis mild stutter. Ve tends to be a little anxious, and can occasionally get a bit snippy when overwhelmed, but is rarely outwardly cold. Ve always happily will trade for or accept gifts of gears or internal mechanisms to then use to craft vis timepieces, which ve occasionally sells from the back of the Kyte. |
> To The Edge And Back...

Prior the events of RPG To The Edge And Back, Shocklight was the owner of a custom clock sales and repair shop in the heart of Goldensparc. One too many disagreements with the local mob put a hit on vis head, leading to vis shop being abandoned when ve packed vis life's fortune and what ve could carry in one or two bags and left that same night. Ve landed vixself a ticket on the SS Innovations, a luxury skyship cruise that promised them a swift and safe flight north. A major mechanical failure, barely surviving a crash, and subsequent murders later, Shocklight found vixself and vis new friends tied up in a sudden destiny to save the world from a looming threat. They succeeded, of course, they're all still around to tell the tale (and even managed to avoid fighting the evil mastermind in favour of sharing a lovely sushi dinner), though none escaped without permanent life changes. During the group's travels, Shocklight met the Kyte. Ve took immediate interest in the ancient kite and worked quickly to understand not only how to work its controls, but also get them out into the air. Not without some damage at first, but ve eventually got the hang of it. That same Kyte is where Shocklight bonded with vis soon-to-be partners: excitable Macchi and anxious Bai Vynn. The three of them fell fast and hard, despite some serious negotiations, but with circumstances as dire as the ones they found themselves into, who could blame them? At the end of the day, Shocklight remains travelling, never staying in one place too long for fear of the mob catching up. Just in case they figure out that ve's still alive, of course. The Kyte is vis home now, and wherever ve goes, Kyte goes with, and sometimes vis partners tag along. Ve visits them as often as ve can. |
