Somewhere a Long Time Ago (unfinished) wrote:
"Well? Any bright ideas, Mr. Worldwide?" Magnus said with a scowl. He took his cabbie hat off and wrung it out between his claws, a stream of water splashing onto the stone below.
"You act like it's my fault. I didn't know such a foul storm would appear out of nowhere!" Duke shivered against the cold moisture that seeped through his entire body. In their panic to get out of the rain, they chose quite possibly the smallest cave in existence. He was almost curled up like a shrimp, his belly to the floor, and his wings scraping the ceiling of the cave.
"We're in Lightning territory! You know, the one place in the world where it's almost constantly storming?! If we had just-" Magnus started but then quickly snapped his mouth shut. He looked up at Duke and his quaking Riot Hazebeacon, Ezol, who was hunched on his shoulder.
Magnus sighed, removing the distasteful expression from his face. "Sorry. I-I just hate getting wet. Uhm, where do you think we could go? We definitely can't stay here."
Duke glanced at his feathery companion for a moment, then nodded his head twice. Ezol chirped quietly, then hopped to the ground with a thud, sauntering over to one of Duke's many bags and swiftly grabbing out a dull teal colored map. She gently laid it out on the floor then, returned to her perch on Duke.
"Thank you, friend. Now, let's see here..." Duke peered at the map as Magnus crawled over to inspect it as well. "We're right here in the Carrion Canyon. Our destination is here, in Cinderslag. As you can see, there aren't any inns for a couple of miles."
