B I O G R A P H Y

______ Barok was born to a noble family in the Southern Icefield and is the younger of two sons. He was greatly influenced by his older brother, Klimit and followed in his footsteps, becoming a prosecutor and helping to stop heinous criminals. However, not long after he became a prosecutor, he brother was killed by a Guardian from the Viridian Labyrinth. Barok had previously been friends with the Guardian and felt incredibly betrayed when Klimit was killed. This led him to despise dragons from the Viridian Labyrinth.

______ After his brother's death, dragons that Barok prosecuted all ended up dying in some way not long after, even if found not guilty. Many dragons believe Barok to be haunted by Klimit's ghost, claiming the deceased dragon to be responsible for the accused's deaths. Due to this curse, Barok has been named 'the Ice Warden's Grim Reaper'. Stressed out by everything that had happened, Barok left the Southern Icefield. He continued to be a prosecutor in the Tangled Wood for several years before heading back to the Southern Icefield. However, while there, a young dragon from the Viridian Labyrinth revealed that Klimit had been the serial killer responsible for the death of several nobles from the Southern Icefield.

______ Distraught by this and now with more whispers about his name, Barok left the Southern Icefield once again. Eventually, he found Crazy Boat who was out gathering resources for his latest project. He invited Barok to join Bloodrot and, in desperate need of somewhere to go, he accepted the offer. Although some rumors about Barok have reached the dragons of Bloodrot, Barok is still accepted by all of them. He is still a prosecutor though takes on far fewer cases than previously. He swears that sometimes he can still feel Klimit watching over him and is unsure if it is a curse or a blessing.

INSPIRATION

______ Barok is based on Barok van Zieks from the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. He is the main prosecutor in the games and is known as the 'Grim Reaper of the Old Bailey' in the original Japanese version but his title is shortened to the 'Reaper of the Bailey' in the localization. He is one of the few characters who's name wasn't changed in the localization, likely due to being the games' main prosecutor.

______ Barok was greatly attached to his brother Klimt, or Klint in the localization, sought revenge for his brothers death, and decided to prosecute the resulting trial, though only after constant pleading to Hart Vortex to let him. He became incredibly upset by Ryuunosuke uncovering the true identity of the notorious serial killer the Professor as being Klimt. In between his brother's death and the revelation of the Professor's true identity, Barok was plagued by a 'curse' that resulted in all that he prosecuted dying. The Reaper's curse was actually a conspiracy ordered by Vortex.

______ In trials, Barok is prone to theatrics, slamming the prosecutor's bench with his leg and smashing wine glasses. He always apologizes afterwards though they are clearly faux apologies as he never makes any effort to change his behavior. He rarely shows emotion, especially distress, both during and outside of trials. Although he initially doesn't like Ryuunosuke, he eventually comes to respect him. Though really only during the last case of the second game.
