Biography
UNFINISHED BIO
• Basil is one of Storm’s End’s cooks, specializing in the Sornieth equivalent of italian food. His dishes include a lot of tomatoes and herbs, ranging from sauces and pastas to breads to seafoods
• An innovator, he spends a lot of his time creating new recipes and puts a lot of care into making sure they’re perfect. He writes all his recipes in the book he carries
• Genuinely passionate about his cooking; he views it as a hobby to devote his time and care to. That this hobby is well-liked enough that he can run a restaurant and dragons will pay him for it is just a bonus
• Accidentally gave everyone ghost pepper sauce once… long story. To summarize, Bianca challenged him to a hot food contest, and he accidentally put his hot sauce in his restaurant instead of his regular arrabbiata
• His familiar, affectionately named “Herbie” is a hedgehide living in a terracotta pot and comprised of culinary herbs. The little critter’s foliage contains an assortment of sage, oregano, chives, basil, cilantro, and parsley—which he can be convinced to share a little of on special occasions

Basil’s Spicy Pasta
This is my favorite recipe! It makes a pretty large batch… but in my opinion that’s half the point! I think the best way to enjoy a pasta dinner is with family or friends. If you don’t mind your food having a bit of heat this meal is perfect for that occasion!

This is my favorite recipe! It makes a pretty large batch… but in my opinion that’s half the point! I think the best way to enjoy a pasta dinner is with family or friends. If you don’t mind your food having a bit of heat this meal is perfect for that occasion!
Ingredients
•16 oz. penne, rotini, or cavatappi pasta
•3 tablespoons olive oil
•3 teaspoons minced garlic
•1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
•2 cups heavy whipping cream
•1 teaspoon freshly-ground sea salt
•1 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
•2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
•1 cup pasta water (from cooked pasta)
•Parsley, for garnish
•3 tablespoons olive oil
•3 teaspoons minced garlic
•1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
•2 cups heavy whipping cream
•1 teaspoon freshly-ground sea salt
•1 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper
•2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
•1 cup pasta water (from cooked pasta)
•Parsley, for garnish
Directions
First, you’re going to need to make the pasta! That’s the easy part—heat a large pot of water to boiling and cook your pasta according to their directions. Once you’re done, reserve a cup of the pasta water and set it aside for later. Drain and rinse the pasta and set it aside to add to the sauce.
For the red sauce, take a large skillet and heat up the garlic oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook that for no more than one minute. Next, add the tomato paste, cream, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook these ingredients together until they’re mixed together and warmed through. You can add a little of the pasta water; add bit by bit until the sauce is your desired consistency.
Finally, pour in your noodles! Mix them in until they’re covered in the sauce, garnish with the parsley, and serve warm. Enjoy!

Basil's view of his work as a hobby he's paid to do is lovely - and he specialises in "Italian" food?! Delicious! (And he has such a cool unique look to him as well.)
