The first two dragons to take shelter at their den are the only ones for quite a while: an Obelisk and a Skydancer, who are there to safely have Mhocka. In hatchlinghood he takes to scout training, so that Viudremesh and Antaxis can focus on other things. On one round of the nearby red desert, he finds a large, dark imperial unconscious and partially buried.

Viudremesh liked it that way. She’d told Antaxis and the sheltering Imperial about a talented and loyal worker she’d met in another region. They were on good terms, and specifically remembered Felex wanting a safe place to settle into (with ample opportunity to come with it, of course).

The group thought it was a lovely opportunity to have someone new, and Viu went off to retrieve him herself.

Desastre and Antaxis had the significant time span before she returned to themselves. In the wake of a slow and undemanding wait, they figured out what they meant to each other. Desastre decided he would never leave.

By the time Viudremesh returns, Barlow and his mate announce a clutch of three healthy eggs. They’re the first to be laid in the lair, and Strainwood is being rapidly baby proofed.

When the Obelisk siblings and Mhocka hatch, it’s only to the audience of their father.
