______ War, war never changes. It is a brutal life in Sornieth. Beastclans constantly on the prowl to attack any dragons they find in hopes to reclaim their territory. Fighting with the Beastclans have been going on for centuries. In hopes of pushing them further back out from the land border, a unique class of dragons have risen to the challenge. Warriors from birth, built to fight, and trained for years to develop the skills needed to protect the realm. Sent out into the fields, the sea, the air, and the forest to fight the Beasts, coming home victorious, or dying in the process. Some lived, some died, and some were never seen again, but others, came home with honor, basked in glory. Killing Beast leaders, reclaiming large territories while protecting what they had gained, meeting friends and rescuing those in need, all came at a cost. Chronic sadness, trivial fears, and night terrors would commonly plague those who returned. Sometimes those out fighting would find friends, even love, or something much worse.

______ Sent out into the Shrieking Wilds with her upbringing in the Brook and primary training, she thought she could handle what patrol would bring, but as it turns out, the mental pain was often worse than the physical. Chronic isolation, resting in pain daily, there was no rest for the wicked. Fighting day in, day out alone, and trying to nurse the physical scars often was too much for them to handle. Out of necessity, he found the strength to keep it together for those he had to help, and would give her life for someone they had never met in a heartbeat, but the fear they were not doing enough plagued them. Outbursts were common, and often left her exhausted. After one such outburst, a nameless mage assisted him in temporary recovery, and eventually convinced her to return home to the Brook, because nothing was worth harming yourself. He now fights competitively for sport, as a way to burn energy, and for simple recreation. The idea they failed eats away at them daily, with the fear of not being enough, but the words of the mage lives on in her head as a mantra; “I'd rather be partly great than entirely useless.”
