Sabrina looked over her scroll, crossing out names. Everyone who was supposed to die today had already moved on to the afterlife, to be sorted into their final destination. Jack was over by a thorny tree, consoling a mother whose child had passed early that day. Sabrina was not as empathic as Jack was, and after having made several dragons burst out crying, Jack took the role of being a comforter to himself. Sabrina much preferred to lead the souls to the gates of the afterlife and make sure everyone passed through them safely.

It didn't matter if Jack had wanted to do this or not, though. He wasn't capable of walking into the Land of the Dead. As far as Sabrina knew, she was the only dragon in The Tangled Wood that was capable of such. Alastaire had pulled her aside to talk about her gift, as he called it, and had tried to perform several magical experiments on her, to see if it was possible to transfer her gift. Sabrina wrinkled her nose, as she rolled the scroll up to put it away. The fact that he had tried to take her ability and use it for his own means disgusted her.

Sabrina put the scroll away and walked out of her shabby den. The dragon mother had left, leaving Jack to tidy the area. Dragons would usually bring gifts for their loved ones, asking Sabrina to carry them to the afterlife so that their loved ones would have something to remember them by. Sabrina always refused, much to Jack's dismay. The dead had no use for material items, and more often than not, those objects could not pass through the veil between the living and the dead without a blessing from a saint, and attaining a blessing from a saint was quite a difficult task. Sabrina would reimburse dragons who would bring a blessed object because she was at least aware of how much it cost to bless an object.

Sabrina sighed, closing her eyes. It'd been a long day, and she was eager to catch any moment she could to rest. Jack hummed in the background, and the small ticks and rustling noises that he made while he cleaned helped lull Sabrina into a light sleep.
