Freaking Carl.

One chilly morning, a Skydancer approached, asking if he could take shelter with the clan. After some discussion, Bankalt and Serafina, as leaders of the clan, agreed that he could stay.

It soon became apparent that Carl was barely capable of caring for himself, much less helping out the clan. If someone stepped in something and tracked it through the lair, it was always Carl found licking it off the bottom of his toes. When Carl went to Pinkerton's to select a treasure, he came home with dirt, or leaves, as though he didn't even see the actual pile. Carl went out gathering one day and came home with a plague egg, and though Bankalt told him to smash it, Carl secretly hatched it and begged for the hatchling to stay. After much discussion, the elders relented, and the hatchling sat in one corner of the lair, glowering at everyone with his strange red eyes, while Carl brought him bits of food. Well, he meant to anyway. Being Carl, he fed the hatchling a strange diet of sticks and dirt and grubs. When the hatchling grew, it stayed with the clan, but always a little apart from them, always staring at them.

When he felt it was time to produce hatchlings, Carl mated with a pearlcatcher he met while out gathering. He came home with three Round Pebbles and the dumbest dragon any of them had ever seen.

The dumbest dragon they'd ever seen. And these were dragons who lived with Carl.

Freaking Carl.

Carl is now partially sighted, because Carl stared directly into the sun during an eclipse. This has not appeared to affect his day-to-day activities in any way. If anything, Carl has gotten slightly better at gathering.
