Cold
The young, soon-to-be hatchling, not yet old enough to form thought, gently scraped the inside of her cold, wet prison.
She wanted out.
This cold, painful prison was nothing like the warm egg she had been kept in for so many months, this wasn’t right, she should be out there, in her mother’s warm embrace. She may have only gained consciousness a few days ago, but even she knew that eggs only had one layer. Something else was keeping her in.

The tiny lizard thrashed and squirmed, she slammed into the walls of ice, she stabbed her claws into the seemingly unbreakable cage that has kept her here for so long. She fought and fought and fought, until finally, she was out.
She looked around. Nothing. Nobody to hold her, no one to care for her. Just a cold, perilous wasteland. Her home.
