Biography

LIMNI'S SOURCE

Silence is not only requested here, but enforced. Touching the water, even if the shore just brushes your claws, can get you sent into jail for an eventual court case. The locals respect this water wholeheartedly, believing it to be their life source and what keeps the generations down here going. Many see it as a place of peace and worship, others see it as a wretched capitalistic myth.

BEFORE

The town was once known for being where wealthy dragons would reside, and where one could find high-priced trading. While they had expensive trades going on, the main source of the town's income was from training and selling warriors for battle. Many aspiring young dragons would travel here to for well training. The town knew that there is nearly no record of any dragon returning from war but many of these young dragons came with large sums of currency from their parents to be trained. The more dragons sent into pointless and devastating battles while never coming back only amplified these young warriors' foolish ambitions while filling the town's vault. The town only filled the roaring blaze of war but as long as they received their pay for the training, they could care less. Only when the battle was at the town's door had they cared. The pampered town was in no shape to fight off contesting flight warriors, let alone with the fact that those warriors would soon die too. They gathered as much as they could. Families would smarm together to create a gliding flat surface of some sorts to transport furniture and belongings on. Some were seen grabbing livestock while others held onto pots filled with plants. They fled for the mountains where the rough layout of tunnels lied. Potential. While the dragons there were wealthy and had some nice education, they often lacked common sense. The fancy furniture and clothing quickly got ruined by the damp and dirty caves. Though the terrified and adrenaline stricken townspeople ignored this and tried their best to continue on as usual. Some townspeople even brought wallpaper, which was then used to print the newspaper. When they ran out of wallpaper they would carve thin stone plates to print upon. Fabric and clothing became scarce, clothing only required from passing hands between generations and got quite dirty and ragged without any known source of water within here. They needed a water source.

ECONOMY, CLASS, AND WATER

A group of young dragons now ripped from their home and desperate to make things right burned with determined passion to help their village. The small amount of water they had was nearly gone, and while they may have little common sense, they knew time was ticking for them. The young dragons set out into the cave system to discover the hydrating nectar that is water. At the time they had only resided in a main cave with a few tunnels that led to subcaves. Each passing of tunnel to subcave was called named a "level" and these villagers used their witts to never went past the second level in fear of getting lost. Occasionally a few rambunctious hatchlings would explore the levels and rarely come back. These young dragons who were sent out were gone for nearly month. When they came back, they brought great news of a gorgeous cave filled with water and stunning crystals. They discovered a catch though, the water is limited. There is a recycling drip source upon the ceiling that brings water back into the underground lake, so therefore it needs to be preserved. And only did these young dragons know how. They must create a new economy of water. The town was skeptic, comfortable in their high-class lives and not fond of the idea of changing that. The younglings pressed further, saying this water was special and would give newfound life for all of them. The currency they had on hand was worthless here and utilizing water could be their solution. Reluctantly... they agreed. New classes were established. The young ones who had discovered the source had taken upon the role of controlling the lake. They sent jugs of water to friends and family in order to stimulate an economy. Trading soon fired up. Maned dragons would sell their fur, those that took the fur would create clothing and then the clothes would be bought for the price of hydration. Small farming communities sparked, raising livestock or growing crops to then be sold in a market. Though most dragons kept a jug or vase of water on hand simply for the purpose of drinking and nothing else. While a few of the unlucky had been removed from their wealthy lives, they still had lives did they not? The lake had truly saved their town. The lake? Well such a magnificent place needed a name. They dubbed it Limni, they felt it needed a simple name as if it truly was alive. And some townsfolk truly did believe Limni was. The residents would visit the cave as a place of worship and prayer, wishing for good health and the return of the sky. The poor would come to beg for water. The young ones, now named the Sourcers, grew anxious with so many around the lake. Being wary of theft. They established a job, the Overseers. Though also snarkily called the Bankers, they protected the lake and watched those that entered into Limni's jaws. The Sourcers believed the upper-classes were much too important to be risked for the job but worried the lower-classes would steal the water. They believed that middle-class dragons would be the best fit, typically younger middleclass dragons still tied to those alike them. They thought the middle-class villagers would be too scared to break the rules because if they did they would shame their name and therefore never be able to scale the classes, which already proved to be a near impossible task. The Overseers would volunteer and go through courses to then finally be able to serve as a Guard. Not paid hugely but handsomely, often treated with well respect from upper-class and middle-class dragons alike. It's quite rare but occasionally a middle-class or lower-class dragon will make a name for themself and will go up one class. Likely through befriending, marriage, or business practice. Like how Banker is often used as an insult, a few more are recorded to be used frequently. While Banker is usually used for only Overseers, their family may also be jabbed at with the term due to the job often being a family tradition. Upper-class residents may be subject to the term of Jugger, as large sums of water is held in vases or jugs. Lower-class citizens are sometimes called Dusties, as those without left over water to bathe are often caked in dirt and dust from the cave walls and floors. While the society was not the kindest nor fair, it was stable enough and gave once manic, starving dragons a job and a home.

AFTER

Over the decades the tunnels had been expanded and perfected. Jobs ranging from blacksmith to farmers to artisans exist here. There was point where only a few decades ago did the townsfolk feel comfortable enough to finally close off the entrance with a large boulder structure. Finally sealing themselves off from the outside world, no hope of the outside going back to normal according to the Sourcers.
