Biography
Aurora
Aurora was the lone egg in her nest, which had been thought to be a bad omen until the day she hatched with glittering faceted eyes. Unlike her older siblings who had long since dispersed from the traveling group of seers, she was a skydancer like her mother. The young hatchling was raised by her loving family, who now saw her as something special due to her unusual eyes. Her father deemed that she was safe from the treachery of his father, as she had no pearl to steal and use against her. Her powers formed as she grew older. Aurora started having visions of ways dragons could change their futures, though she could never say if it was for better or worse. She began helping other dragons like the rest of her family in forseeing the futures of those who sought out their services. Her mother taught her how to hone her abilities and explain what she saw to customers. In her down time, she liked to help her father with gathering supplies for when they were back on the road again. While most of her family's hatchlings would leave once they were old enough. Some didn't even choose to learn the basics of their family powers, preferring instead to learn on their own and find their own path. Aurora on the other hand, liked traveling with her family. They kept each other safe and she found she could learn a lot from them. She'd also heard of her father's kin, though was aware she'd likely be much safer than her pearlcatcher siblings. It'd be hard to trace her back to her father's line let alone control her when she didn't have a pearl. While she knew leaving on her own was always an option, Aurora felt this was the place she belonged. |
Not everything stayed calm and peaceful. The skydancer could feel something strange creeping up on her from the shadows. Voices seemed to whisper in her dreams and grew stronger as time wore on. She never could quite understand what they were saying. Her visions didn't show anything unusual, although they were growing stronger. Aurora just attributed it to her abilities strengthening as she used them more. She hadn't thought there was anything sinister related to it. When she began seeing shadowy figures of dragon-like beings following her however, she consulted her family. They did everything to try seeing what they could be but found only misty blackness. The only thing they could agree upon was that these beings were unable to cause them harm. Aurora was uneasy about what they were but was relieved to hear she hadn't done anything wrong. She wondered whether these beings were Shade-fragments drawn from their powers or if they'd been past customers she'd advised down the wrong path. For now, Aurora keeps close watch on these strange occurrences, always alert for if they're growing stronger. Eventually, a strange pearlcatcher named Oreades joined their family. He was odd and everyone, including herself, grew fond of him rather quickly. She spent most of her time with him, especially after he admitted to seeing the strange entities that followed her. Aurora knew he couldn't do anything to get rid of them, but knowing he could see them constantly and being given another confirmation they didn't seem to mean harm made her feel safer. The two eventually became mates. She loved traveling with him and at this point, couldn't imagine a life without him in it. |
