PERSONALITY Haco is vain, proud, and incredibly narcissistic, if only to mask the deep insecurities and self-criticism he places on himself. Growing up as an orphan in Cinderslag, Haco has trouble opening up to others and treating them kindly, survival and self-preservation being his only goal before living as Kaito's apprentice. Not satisfied with being second-best, Haco trains relentlessly at whatever he sets his heart on, and cares a lot about outward appearances. The only dragons he values more than himself are his mentor, Kaito, and his (self-proclaimed) rival, Koa. Though he's loathe to admit it, he is actually quite affectionate towards Koa, and often sticks by her side during the Opening of the Scarlet Gates festival every year. Not because he likes her or anything, but because he can never beat her in any dance competition. Definitely not because he likes her. ABOUT Haco was born in the sweltering, oppressive heat of Cinderslag. Those who could not maintain favor of the forgemasters at The Great Furnace were driven to this ramshackle town, and Haco's family was no different. After his father left them out of shame and later losing his mother to illness, Haco did everything he could to survive. By the mercy of the only inn around, dilapidated but bursting with life as it was, he was hired as a waiter at an early age. There he toiled day in and day out to earn his keep, until he was old enough to take on an apprenticeship. That's when he saw them for the first time: The Firedancers. A mesmerizing display of fire, silks, and gold, The Firedancers toured all across the Ashfall Wastes, even stopping by Cinderslag. Though originally established as a school of fire priests and priestesses, these days they use their magic for vibrant performances and entertainment. The week they came to Cinderslag was a pivoting point for Haco, his path forever changed and a desperate, burning passion igniting in his heart. After saving up enough to travel on his own, he followed the Firedancers to their main lair and applied to become an apprentice. What he did not know, at the time, was that they were already waiting for him... Whether or not his path was chosen by himself or fate, one cannot say. In his training, the troupe traveled to the farthest regions of Sornieth, studying the dances of different clans. After several years of training and landing his own spot in performances, Haco became a lead firedancer. |
