In the days when the clan was just a band of wary stragglers, its lairs little more than scrapes in the ground, there was no leader, no council, no circle of knights. There was only the Mother. Under her nurturing eye, the young group flourished and grew into something more. A clan. A family. These first settlers and their children grew up under her protection, looking to her guidance. She taught them to fight, to feed themselves, to flourish in the unforgiving environment in which they lived. They grew dependent. Complacent. And so when the Mother disappeared, leaving no trace of her existence but the faded mural made in her honor, there was no one to stop the new clan spiraling into chaos.

Bendanas never desired the role of matriarch. She was no Mother - just a mother. But her children's uncertain future drove her to greater strength and command than she ever dreamed she had. She stepped into the empty shoes of leadership, restructuring ragtag duties, reassuring and rallying her peers back into the semblance of a unified clan. Where the Mother had concerned herself only with the little Plague families under her care, Bendanas went further: a roving warrior, a plague-blind healer, a sick and tired Tundra wandering the wastes - she welcomed dragons of all flights and backgrounds in the hope of building a more prosperous future. Her tolerance and attentiveness toward each new individual earned her a dedicated following that endured even after the luxury of malcontent returned to the clan. She never wished for the role of matriarch, but she most certainly earned it.

Determined to care for her growing family as best she can, Bendanas maintains a constant presence in the lair, mediating any internal disputes she comes across. Her greatest joy, however, lies in caring for the lair's countless hatchlings, to whom she acts as both teacher and protector. While not an active fighter in her otherwise warlike clan, she is easily one of the most ferocious when acting in their defense.
