When they stop on the balcony overlooking the vast fields, into the near-eternal twilight Her Dark Grace maintained, Azrael's eyes have gone soft. He doesn't look at her, keeping his attention staring at the stars that twinkle silently, sentinels in the romantic evening sky.

"Tell me, Scheherazade," he asks gently, a small smile on his lips. "Look up and tell me, what do you see?" She looks at him, confused, but chooses to indulge him anyway.

"The sky?" she offers, frowning when he doesn't respond. Pulling her attention a little downwards, she looks towards the horizons where the Scarred Wasteland lay. She wouldn't be able to see its rot from there, in Minas' cove in the height of Murkbarrow Close, but she knew it still existed westward of them. "The earth? I can see where the hills and sky meet. I see stars. I see some clouds...Azrael, be honest, what else am I to see?" He chuckles at her answer.

"Perhaps that is true but it's more than that. Your Earth, you Sky, they all hold something precious. Out there is a million worlds similar but not exactly like your world. It is...unique. And I am fascinated by it all the time."

Azrael O'Conner, Mastery Gunnery Sergeant of the alien space ship Discovery, never expected that when he was assigned by Her Esteemed One, he would spend a year crossing galaxies and possibly even planes of reality to arrive in the wild lands of Sornieth. Suffering a collision with the strange asteroid belt that surrounds the world, bearing eerie colors that most asteroids don't have, forced the Discovery to perform a lithostop: that is to say, they hit the ground pretty hard. Crash landing in the bogs of the Shadowbinder's realm, the alien life-forms were lucky to not suffer any mortal casualties, yet found themselves in desperate need of aid.

As a result, the trained warrior left the site of wreckage to seek help, followed by his close friend Seth and their former pilot, Hel. It did not take long for them to encounter the mysterious Veil that Scheherazade maintains. Faced with a world that is hauntingly similar to the world he left, Azrael felt the same emotions most on his crew did: trepidation, suspicion and disbelief. He nearly chose violence over communication, his hands flying to his sword...

But for some reason, seeing the visage of an admittedly beautiful girl made him rethink his stance.

Once it was made clear that the people they encountered meant no harm, the crew of the Discovery attempted to gather their bearings, collecting the necessary material to repair their ship, as well as learn about the vast resources that Sornieth has. The kind of resources the planet they left behind now lacks. Azrael himself found his attention drawn to the shy, almost sad dragoness that seemed to be eternally kept at the Veil's side. Upon learning of her terrible fate, he feels compelled to help break her of her despair.

A heart beats within him, that yearns to be beside Scheherazade. But are foul powers at play? And can a love like theirs exist, when the entire world teeters at the edge of annihilation?
