A husk of a former dragon, Emmanuel's brain was overtaken long ago by a parasitic fungus. This is how Willow found him, wandering the Scarred Wasteland like a zombie.

Most believe his mind is just a void, thought at first to be incapable of communicating, but it was later learned that Emmanuel takes orders very well when handed to him, almost eager to advance on the most opportune moment that involves meat.

That being said, Emmanuel is considered a valuable tool on hunting parties. Duriel often describes him as being very dedicated to his work.
