Dimitri

Several long years ago, Dimitri led a pleasant life as the only child of a noble clan leader. He was well cared for, if a bit lonely, and eager to follow in his father's footsteps. However, this peaceful life was not to last, as his immediate family was all killed during an ambush as they were headed to meet with an allied clan. Dimitri was the only one who survived, though just barely.

Some scouts from the allied clan found the prince half-dead and brought him back to their lair for healing. The leaders of the clan sent word back to Dimitri's clan about what had transpired, along with the good news that their prince was safe and sound. However, Dimitri's people, grieving for their lost king and searching for an outlet for their anger, blamed their "erstwhile allies" for the ambush and violently retaliated. Dimitri was "saved", but very few of his actual saviors were able to escape with their lives.

The entire ordeal hurt Dimitri deeply, however, and he became obsessed with finding his family's actual killers. He allowed his royal duties to be passed off to his less-than-noble uncle, with the excuse that he wasn't old enough to assume leadership. In truth he just wanted to focus on getting revenge for those who died, believing it was his duty as the sole survivor. [WIP]
