MamaRose

Mama Rose is the clan matriarch. A year back and she was a young wildclaw hunter in a tundra clan, led by a young and powerful tundra male by the name of Haruelle. They were a fire flight, but she didn't mind that too much. However a plague struck, and took everything she knew, including her mate Arquen, a handsome wildclaw. All alone with an egg, she felt hopeless. She curled about the egg under the roots of a tree, waiting for her own eternal sleep. But that egg hatched, into a tiny guardian, and his hunger gave her something to focus on. Over the next four days, more dragons came to the hollow. Dragons seeking refuge. She took charge of these, and fought any who challenged her, establishing her position as matriarch of this new clan. Four days after his hatching, Alicanthus, Mama Rose's adopted son, had listened to one of the newcomers tales of the lands beyond, and decided to go a-wandering. Mama Rose takes her duty as matriarch to heart, but she's always so terribly eager for news of her baby boy.

Mama Rose looks at you very seriously.

Mama Rose: Tell meh... tell Mama... haev ya seen a wee guardian lad, yey high.. only a lil fella? His name is Alicanthus, lil rascal's scampered off... he's got nobody else... let me know if yeh see him 'round eh? Tis been very lonely 'round here since th' plague took all th' others. Oh sure I've a clan now, but t'aint the same.

She sighs heavily.

Mama Rose: My boy's been gone over a year now... I miss ma wee laddie fiercely. I just wan' ta bring 'im home. I just wan' ta know he's alright...

Mama Rose watched over her clan proudly. Major and Lady were tending to the new hatchlings, and Pearl was due to return from her scouting shortly. The hunting and gathering had been done for the day, and by and large it was time to relax. She looked out to the sky and sighed softly, leaning against her sleeping and oblivious husband. "Jazz... I wish Ali could be here to see this."

A quiet voice interrupted her thoughts, "Ma'am, I think you'd best follow me."

It was Pearl, looking rather wide-eyed and earnest. Mama frowned, but got to her feet. "Lead th' way then lassie."

And lead the way she did, headed to the outskirts of the territory. Mama was about to question when she noticed the dragon ahead, and all other thoughts paled save one. Alicanthus.

She stepped forward, a tear tracing down her cheek, and smiled tenderly. "Oh Ali mah sweet lad, ye've come home."

The massive guardian male, no more the small hatchling he'd been when he'd left, lowered his massive head to her. "I'm sorry I've been away so long Mama. But I'll never leave again, I promise."

Mama patted his nose fondly. "Don't you worry, I knew ye'd come back. Ye've made me very proud, what a fine dragon ye've become. Follow us back laddie, Mama wants ta hear all about it."
