Biography
Her parents may be demons, but that doesn't mean she isn't loveable. Desdemona fled her parents' home when they threatened to eat her because she just wasn't vicious enough. When she came to the surface from the nether realms, she poked her head out and was nearly suffocated by the ocean she was now at the bottom of. Struggling, she quickly thrashed around and flapped her wings, which moved her to the surface just before she blacked out from a lack of oxygen.
Luckily, when she burst through the water with a loud gasp, she drew the attention of a lurking Guardian. Zazu lurked with just her eyes and horns barely breaking the surface of the water and watched poor Desdemona flounder for a moment. Just before the Wildclaw beauty sank again, possibly to her demise, Zazu extended her giant wing and lifted Desdemona to the surface, then started to swim towards her home - the mysterious floating island.
It was a confused Desdemona who sputtered and gasped for air, then turned to see her savior. But no dragon was there, just a set of pink horns cutting through the water. "Um, thank you kind one," she coughed as she spat more saltwater from her mouth. She may no longer be a princess, but that didn't mean she would allow herself to be rude! At her gratitude, she felt a laugh tremble through the wing under her feet and it brought a smile of relief to her.
So did the sight of land growing nearer!
When the pair reached the beach, the wing shifted from underneath Desdemona to push against her tail as the unknown dragon urged the princess to the shore. Curious about the dragon who saved her life, Desdemona hurried to the safety of the sand, then spun around and saw a gloriously giant Guardian standing in the shallow waters before her. When she beheld the beauty before her, Desdemona forgot all of her princessly manners and gasped, "You are so beautiful!"
Zazu ducked her head, blushing brighter pink than her normal coloring, and muttered a fast, "Thanks," before she retreated back into the ocean to continue her patrols. Then, before she ducked back into the depths, she turned back and pointed east with her wingtip and sent a smile to the stranded Wildclaw that she had just kept from drowning.
Following the kind stranger's direction, Desdemona followed the beach to the east for half a day. When the brutal sun had sapped most of her strength, she heard voices coming through the trees at her right. Relieved, she crashed through the underbrush and came across a party of dragons led by a gaily dressed orange Coatl. He stood before a mismatched pair and declared, "...pronounce you two properly wed!" before he and the rest of the gathered slowly turned to look at the intruder.
"I'm...I'm so sorry to interrupt," Desdemona stammered just before the tears fell. When she started crying, a bright Skydancer leaned up to whisper in the Coatl's ear, then hurried to her side and wrapped a warm wing around her shoulders as he reassured her she was safe.
The nameless clan got Desdemona settled into a small hut within walking distance to the crystalline waterfall that was home to Camillia and Battlescale, the newly-wed couple she barged in on during their wedding ceremony. She spends the mornings watching for the pink giant who saved her life in the briny depths of the ocean. When she sees Zazu return safely from her patrol, she walks over and strikes up a conversation in the hopes that the Guardian guard will notice her.
