Narcissus is one of the hatchlings from Hemlock's first nest, a nest regarded with excitement by much of the clan. When he comes out slimy, many of the clan's dragons are concerned for his overall structural integrity. Hemlock, however, takes it in stride, insisting that there is nothing wrong with his hatchlings that he cannot fix. This proves more or less true. While Narcissus never stops oozing, he grows strong and healthy in all other regards, and quickly wins the affection of the clan. He stays by his father's side as much as he's allowed to, but often gets sent on various errands, the complexity of which increase as he gets older. Flattered to have his father's trust, Narcissus does everything he can to make himself useful. Often, this entails listening to his clanmates' concerns and bringing them to Hemlock for his consideration. While some would consider this behavior trickery, Narcissus has no such concern.
